Summary

  • Position Summary
    • Under general supervision, the Certified Athletic Trainer provides direct patient care in the Weight and Wellness Department to include athletic training related services and strength and conditioning assessment and programming. Job responsibilities will include areas related to the scope of athletic training, strength and conditioning concussion management, community outreach and development of future related programs.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training is required (graduation from accredited program); Master’s degree in Athletic Training or similar program preferred
    • License/Certifications: Certifications in Athletic Training (ATC) through the NATA Board of Certification and Strength and Conditioning (CSCS) through the NSCA required; Maine State Athletic Trainers’ License required; CPR/AED certification (BLS) through the American Heart Association required.
    • Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer is preferred. Experience in teaching and preparing instructional material preferred.
    • Requires a high level of interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with clients and the community, which includes instruction and motivation of such persons.
    • Requires analytical ability necessary to assess exercise tests, assess for athletic development programs and proper documentation.
    • A minor amount of travel related to athletic training contract sites and various community outreach events will be required to meet the needs of the position.
