Summary

  • We are seeking experienced surgical technologist to join our Central Staffing Float Pool/Operating Room (OR)/Surgery at Coastal Healthcare Alliance, comprised of Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport and Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast.

    The Central Staffing Float Pool offers a unique opportunity for experienced Surgical Technologist to expand their knowledge base and sharpen their skill set.  Surgical Technologist are given the opportunity to work at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital in the Operating Room/Surgery.  A surgical technologist working in the Central Staffing Float Pool must possess the ability to think quickly on their feet, with remarkable adaptability and critical thinking expertise.  Having the ability to transition between facilities is a must when working in this role with Central Staffing

    Position Summary
    • Under the supervision of nursing and medicine, facilitates the safe and effective provision of invasive surgical procedures, encompassing neonates to geriatric clients. This individual possess the expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and implementation of tools and technologies to support patient outcomes.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
    • License/Certifications: Must hold National Certification as an Operating Room Technologist or be able to obtain within 12 months of hire. Basic Life Support Certification within six months.
    • Experience: One year of surgical practice preferred.
    • Completes unit based competencies.
    • Demonstrates the knowledge of infection control in the unit.
    • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical surgical thinking skills in practice.
    • Identifies “potential” requirement intra-operatively.
