Schedule: Full Time 40 hours per week with flexible schedule, no nights and weekends

Franklin Memorial Hospital, a MaineHealth member, is seeking an experienced Advance Practice Provider (APP - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Occupational Health Group. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work with an established growing group of professionals with over 108 year-combined experience. The APP will provide medical care and occupational health services to the patients within the scope of their privileges under the general direction of the Director of Occupational Health. The certified practitioner will maintain prescriptive authority and comply with licensure requirements. A preference for individuals with training or experience in Occupational Health is desirable but not requisite.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct care to patients referred to the Occupational Health clinics according to scope of practice and delegated activities as outline by the supervising physician and/or in accordance with regulations.
  • Assumes responsibility for the administrative requirements of the defined patient caseload commensurate with hospital, department regulatory requirements.
  • Participates as a team member in meeting the goals and mission of the clients, patients, and clinics.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with the medical director and provider staff to assure continuity of care and clinical outcomes.
  • Demonstrates competence in all APP care procedures within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrates competence in the management of workplace exposures as determined by physician review processes.
  • Demonstrates competence in identifying clinical care procedures and appropriate to the presenting signs and symptoms, as determined by physician review processes and procedures.
  • Provides effective teaching for patients with regard to course of treatment and work limitations and preventive solutions that is appropriate to patient's level of understanding; using translation services and other appropriate resources as needed.
  • Serves as a resource in promoting and educating clinical staff to trends in OH client care.
  • Strives to become familiar with the physical requirements, the environment and the potential risks of the work done by our client companies.
  • Performs all procedures according to established organization and departmental policies.
  • Actively participates in and adapts clinical care activities in accordance with research and CQI initiatives/data.
  • Assumes responsibility for the administrative requirements of the defined patient caseload commensurate with hospital, OH clinic and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates with employers as appropriate to ensure best outcomes for the patient and the client company.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a Master's Degree level of education is preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current license issued by the State of Maine as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with supervising physician required. Current certification as NP or PA required. BLS certification is required.
  • Experience: Three or more years of experience in an occupational health setting preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • DOT Certification required within 6 months of employment.
