Senior Structural Bridge Engineer | Hybrid

VHB is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the established and growing Structures group in our VT offices. We are a dynamic, vibrant, and innovative team on the cutting edge with model-based bridge design. Join us and be part of delivering interesting and challenging bridge projects in Vermont and New England. There is an option for someone to work from another VHB office to support VT projects, if meeting all qualifications.

Responsibilities

Provide training, mentoring and direction for team members in all aspects of design and project development for bridge/transportation structures
• Lead the scoping, design, plan preparation and Contract document preparation for bridge and transportation structure projects
• Prepare proposals and contracts
• Develop trusted client relationships
• Provide independent review and Qc/Qa of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses
• Serve as Project Manager including scheduling and budget

Skills and Attributes

• Extensive knowledge of structural engineering concepts
• Excellent communicator in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Team oriented along with ability to work independently
• Robust technical and critical thinking skills
• Leadership and project management skills
• Motivated to train and mentor staff
• Experience with the use of structural engineering software
• Bentley OpenBridge and OpenRoads experience is a strong plus

Qualifications

• 11+ years of professional experience in structural bridge design
• BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) (1 year of experience may be substituted for a master's degree)
• PE license required
• Experience completing transportation studies, final design documents and developing contract plans
• Independent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete)
