Summary

MaineHealth is actively interviewing for a Child Life Specialist. This is a Monday through Friday opportunity with hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position supports activities at both 22 Bramhall Street and the Scarborough Infusion Center. This role would support outpatient services by performing such services as assisting children and parents cope through discussions related to relapses and upcoming procedures or scans.

This opportunity qualifies with a $1,000.00 sign on bonus. In addition, candidates may be eligible for MaineHealth's relocation package.

Position Summary

A Child Life Specialist provides developmentally, clinically appropriate Child Life services based on patient and family needs and a multidisciplinary care plan for patients in designated pediatric areas under the general administration of the Child Life Program Manager. Child life interventions may be offered in individual or group settings and will assess and support a child's understanding of healthcare experiences, emotional support, pain and/or anxiety management, socialization, developmental needs, coping styles and family/parent/sibling support. Child Life Services supports a primary specialist care delivery model.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    1. Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Child Life or related field
    2. License/Certifications: Association of Child Life Professionals Certification Certified Child Life Specialist (earned or within 1 year of hire)
    3. Experience: 1 year of child life experience preferred
