Summary

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering up to a $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 0-3 years of experience and $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 3 years of experience!

  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Position Summary (This position will consist of 36 hours per week.)

The SCU RN is responsible for complex assessment, high intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. Effective communications skills are essential. The critical care nurse relies on a specialized body of knowledge, skills and experience to provide safe patient and family centered-care and create environments that are healing, humane, and caring. The critical care nurse is a patient advocate. The SCU patient population includes pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

The Special Care Unit is an 8-bed ICU/Step-Down Unit, where nurses are responsible for conducting complex assessments and providing intensive therapies and interventions to a variety of patients. Nurses have the opportunity to care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory failure, cardiac events, sepsis, metabolic disorders, complex surgical recoveries, and more.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    1. Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
    2. License/Certifications: Current License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine; Current BLS Certification. As required by department, including Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting Laboring Women.
    3. Experience: A minimum of one year in an acute care setting preferred.
