Summary

Position Summary

The SCU RN is responsible for complex assessment, high intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. Effective communications skills are essential. The critical care nurse relies on a specialized body of knowledge, skills and experience to provide safe patient and family centered-care and create environments that are healing, humane, and caring. The critical care nurse is a patient advocate. The SCU patient population includes pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
    • License/Certifications: Current License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine; Current BLS Certification. As required by department, including Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting Laboring Women.
    • Experience: A minimum of one year in an acute care setting preferred.
