About the Team

WEX is a provider of payment processing and information management services to the United States commercial and government vehicle fleet industry. WEX provides a gas card solution and fleet management with state of the art technology for day to day operations. Our goal is to use our technology to make managing a fleet as simple as possible behind the scenes.

The Frontend Application Architect on our team is an independent problem solver who is responsible for setting technical direction, creating the design of new architecture, modernizing legacy architecture, and ensuring the successful implementation of the full stack of our applications. This individual works closely with all members of the Scrum Team to ensure the code we implement and release is of the highest quality, thoroughly tested, and meets the needs of our end users.

How you'll make an impact

Be a great teammate and leader:

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders, Product Owners, QA Engineers, Developers, Users, Scrum Masters, and other Architects throughout the lifecycle of a project, from concept through implementation

  • Communicate effectively, clearly, and thoroughly to various audiences, both technical and non-technical

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies alongside the team

  • Support and coach Developers and QA Engineers, provide technical guidance

  • Identify areas needing process improvements and see them through to resolution

Create awesome design and code:

  • Obtain a deep understanding of our business domain and products and use this knowledge to support technical decision making

  • Create designs that meet the needs of our business, our team, and our technology, and are always performant, scalable, and maintainable

  • Review architectural design with Solution Architects and other Application Architects to create awareness and collect feedback, ensuring solution adheres to best practices

  • Engage with the development teams as they adopt and implement your design, provide coaching and consulting

  • Translate written or verbal requirements into extensible and well-organized coded solutions against our full stack applications using languages such as C#, SQL, Javascript, Typescript, Terraform and

  • Learn and leverage design patterns such as Factory, Facade, Composite, Observer, and Mediator

  • Follow Object Oriented Programming best practices such as Encapsulation, Abstraction, Polymorphism, Single Responsibility, Open/Closed, and Interface Segregation, and adhere to WEX documented standards

  • Participate in team deliverables, writing code and coded tests alongside the team, keeping your coding skills fresh and building team relationships

  • Conduct peer code reviews to ensure standards and best practices are followed

Understand and support our products:

  • Take initiative to learn the domain and surrounding/supporting features

  • Answer questions about the products and its codebase

  • Respond to and communicate Production issues timely and effectively

Experience you'll bring

  • A BS in an engineering field

  • 8+ years of development experience

  • A demonstrable working understanding of ASP.net and Angular or other modern front-end technologies

  • Fluent in C# and T-SQL, and adaptable to other languages

  • Experience creating design for new products as well as improving existing products

  • Experience with microservices architectures, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), messaging architectures, and server less computing.

  • Experience decomposing monolithic architectures to modern micro-service and layered architectures.

  • Experience with AWS cloud-native technologies.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Salary Pay Range: $134,000.00 - $178,000.00
