What you'll do

As the Logistics Supervisor for (A Shyft Group Brand) based in , you will enjoy providing communication and logistics coordination between internal departments and key external transportation partners.

You will serve as the primary contact point for all domestic and international freight movements, as well as compliance matters regarding imports and exports. In addition, you will be accountable for coordinating with the 3PL provider to receive, resolve, and report on customer and supplier inquiries concerning freight disputes, shipment returns, and replacements.

You will also:

  • Organize team meetings to discuss logistics performance in relation to KPIs
  • Partner with Material Distribution to coordinate parts delivery activities
  • Support inventory reduction initiatives
  • Reduce supplier past due part shipments, including internal part shortages.
  • Coordinate inbound shipment processes
  • Ensure the highest levels of performance in the areas of cost reduction, on-time delivery, availability, lead-times, and customer satisfaction
  • Track shipments and establish standard reporting to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery
  • Proactively follow up on freight problems and communicate issues to all parties.
  • Timely review and process freight invoices for accuracy
  • Monitor shipment transactions for accuracy
  • Examine expenditures and other financial information with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
  • Suggest policies and standards to ensure the safety of production parts and hazardous materials
  • Verify and resolve complaints related to carriers and shipments
  • Support parts packaging related requests.
  • Coordinate the internal cycle count and physical inventory activities
  • Identify ways to reduce raw material while focusing on economic order quantities.
  • Minimize supplier past due shipments and help monitor internal parts shortage issues
  • Prepare all required reports and correspondence related to logistics activity
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure company transportation is registered, insured, and inspected
  • Support drivers with any logistics while they are out on the road

What you need to be successful
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of third-party logistics (3PL) providers' capabilities and business practices
  • Expertise in overseeing multiple shipping and receiving locations
  • Results-oriented and a commitment to providing excellent customer support.
  • Understanding of financial implications of logistics and inventory
  • A track record of planning and handle multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Attention to detail, versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency Microsoft Office
  • Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions
  • Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Leadership attributes and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to travel occasionally
