Description

Florence House, one of Preble Street's Site-based Housing First and emergency shelter programs, meets urgent needs and provides evidence based, sustainable solutions to homelessness, offering comprehensive supportive services, shelter, and permanent housing for women. The Safe Haven program consists of 15 small, comfortable rooms where guests are prioritized based on vulnerability, with factors considered such as current shelter situation, medical needs, substance use and mental health disorders, and fleeing domestic violence or trafficking.

A full-time, 2nd Shift Intake & Milieu Caseworker position is available in Preble Street's Florence House. Caseworkers provide services to women currently experiencing homelessness through addressing their barriers to housing, actively engaging with clients and tenants in shelter spaces, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, and offering crisis intervention and support. This role will have a focus on intake processing for new shelter and Safe Haven clients and will work collaboratively through milieu and case management activities.

The two available schedules for this full-time (40 hours/week), 2nd shift position are Friday-Monday 12pm-10:30pm OR Tuesday-Saturday 2pm-10:30pm.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the Caseworker position include a combination of relevant work experience, education, and/or training to perform the work of the Caseworker; preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in social work or related field. Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS-1) certification is required and can be obtained on the job/after hire.

Additional qualifications include an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street's mission and positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and commitment to providing low-barrier services. Also required are strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; familiarity with community resources; strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain documentation of services; ability to work with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as the ability to regularly work as scheduled, with consistent and reliable attendance. Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS-1) certification is required and can be obtained after hire.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $20.70 per hour. As a direct service position in a 24/7 program, this position is eligible for a shift differential of $1.00 per hour for all hours worked between 7:00am and 10:00pm.
