About the Team & Role

It's a really exciting time to be part of the WEX Digital Team - we're growing our strategy, product, and portfolio teams in order to build the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital platforms of the future. You'll be in the thick of the action, helping advance our commercial, product, and tech AI strategy to efficiently drive growth and deliver products that delight our consumers. We are looking for an AI expert who is excited by the challenge of transforming our organization. This role will be dedicated to better equipping and enabling employees to leverage AI tools and technologies effectively for business productivity and innovation.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a passion for helping others learn AI tools and technologies. We believe our employees will be most successful with continued exposure to and experiential learning with AI and you will be integral to this approach. Crucial to success is the ability to communicate effectively with and engage a range of stakeholders, from technical teams to senior leadership, helping translate individual problem statements into actionable outputs.

We expect candidates to have an understanding of AI technologies and their practical applications, but recognize that the technologies are constantly evolving. Dynamic leadership and continuous learning is paramount and you should have a willingness to roll-up your sleeves and approach problems with a "can-do" attitude. As a core member of our cross-functional, matrixed AI-team, you will report to the newly created VP of AI Strategy & Implementation as part of the Digital organization. Your expertise and partnership across the organization will be crucial to delivering on our AI ambitions. Success in this role involves demonstrated problem solving skills, ability to drive continuous improvement and adoption of AI, and increasing WEX-wide AI proficiency and productivity.

How you'll make an impact

• Gain deep expertise in optimizing AI tools, including ChatGPT and Gemini, to provide effective guidance and troubleshooting

• Stay current on AI trends and updates, incorporating new knowledge into training and support

• Provide best practices for prompt construction to maximize the utility and accuracy of AI responses

• Unlock productivity across WEX by partnering with key team members and functions on how to effectively leverage Gen AI tools to solve their biggest challenges

• Provide one-on-one coaching and support for specific AI tool-related challenges, initially targeted at the biggest opportunities at WEX to help achieve our bold ambitions

• Develop creative solutions for complex challenges encountered by employees

• Serve as key leader and SME for weekly "Ask Me Anything AI" office hours

• Partner closely with AI Talent Team (HR) to create feedback loops to understand trends / themes around employee demand for AI prompts and tools; gather feedback from users to continuously improve AI tool utilization and support

• Partner with broader AI team and Global Talent Development to create scalable, self-help resources - AI guides, tutorials, and prompt FAQs to help reinforce capabilities

• Partner with AI team and Global Talent Development to develop and conduct training sessions on effective use of AI tools for employees at all levels

• Document ideas and strategies to help increase AI adoption for all employees based on learnings from coaching sessions and relevant forums; partner with AI Talent Team on execution

• Partner with technology to set up AI "Help Desk" as key intake for all employees needing assistance with AI tools or processes; act as SME for all relevant prompt engineering and tool questions

• Partner with AI Tooling Strategy Lead (IT) to integrate existing AI tools into business processes

• Develop deep expertise around future / new enterprise AI tools, assisting in the roll-out and adoption of any new tools and technologies

• Foster a culture of AI curiosity and innovation, promoting responsible and productive use of AI across WEX through coaching and prompt engineering support

• Champion smart AI adoption, recognizing the benefits and risks of each tool and technology in accordance with WEX's AI policies and governance committees

Experience you'll bring

• 7+ years of experience in a large, cross-functional company

• Degree in relevant technology field such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering

• AI Technical and Prompt Engineering Experience: Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with AI and machine learning concepts and technologies as well as tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini

• Coaching: Experience in training, coaching, or education, particularly in a technical context, demonstrating the ability to transfer knowledge effectively

• Project Management: A history of successful project management, showing the ability to lead initiatives from conception through to implementation and evaluation

• Constant Learner: An endless curiosity and a penchant for thinking about "art of the possible"; excitement and commitment to staying abreast of emerging AI technologies and methodologies

• Business Acumen: Capable of understanding business problems and then explaining complex ideas to key business partners across Strategy, HR, Sales, Finance, Product etc.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and problem solve alongside stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, data & analytics, and technical teams

• Innovation and Problem-Solving: A track record of innovative thinking and problem-solving, demonstrating the ability to identify opportunities for AI to drive business growth and efficiency

• Ethical Considerations and Risk Management: Knowledge of the ethical considerations in AI use

• Collaboration and Team Building: Experience in building, leading, and motivating high-performing teams, with a commitment to developing talent and fostering a culture of innovation
