Job Description

The Test & Evaluation (T&E) Associate Engineer (AE) is responsible for supporting the Ship Comprehensive Test Plan through developing, maintaining, and witnessing Stage 2 through 7 Test Procedures. These duties follow the ship through various stages of construction, and conclude with witnessing Stage 7 Sea Trials tests.

The successful candidate will perform duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Develop, witness, evaluate, submit, and maintain stage 2 (installation/inspection) and 3-7 (operational) tests listed in ship spec 092, 094, and 095.
  • Support Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems testing during various ship activation periods, including sea trials.
  • Provide test support to multiple ship programs.
  • Research ECP's (change proposals) for impact to the test program.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, ATT and Navy personnel throughout the development, execution, and approval cycle of the test program.
  • Help resolve emergent test procedure issues on the deck plates.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of all T&E BMDA responsible documents.

Required/Preferred Education/Training
  • Required
    • High School Diploma / GED
    • Ability to obtain Secret and/or Top Secret Security Clearance.
    • This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.   • Preferred
    • BIW Apprentice Graduate or 2 year technical degree in Marine Engineering.
Required/Preferred Experience
  • Required
    • 5+ years in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
    • Significant experience in a shipyard test environment.
    • Ability to interpret test requirements, and perform required calculations.
    • Broad knowledge of general ship design, construction, and test program processes.
    • Demonstrated organizational and people skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and effectiveness with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to support temporary off shift or second shift tests and Sea Trials.
  • Preferred
    • Navy Combat Systems related or Shipboard HVAC experience.
    • Prior experience with BIW system diagrams and Navy Ship Specifications.
