Job Description

Summary

  • Position Summary
    • Respiratory Therapists work under the Manager of Respiratory Care and the charge therapist in providing all therapeutic, supportive and monitoring modalities to patients as prescribed by physicians or by departmental protocols in all areas of the hospitals. The Respiratory Therapist Level 2 (RT2) has at least one year of professional respiratory care experience and has obtained the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and has a State of Maine Registered Respiratory Therapist license. The RT2 must possess a knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathology, respiratory diagnostic techniques, treatment methods , equipment selection and maintenance for chronic, acute and emergent care in all areas including intensive care. An RT2 must be adept at patient assessment and analysis of clinical data . External candidates who satisfy all criteria may be hired as an RT2 .
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: N/A
    • License/Certifications: Must hold and maintain credentialing from the National Board of Respiratory Care as an RRT. Licensed by the Maine Board of Respiratory Care Practitioners as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in Maine. Holds and maintains credentials in BLS and NRP. ACLS and PALS certifications preferred.
    • Experience: Have at least one year of clinical experience in a hospital.
