Our Finance Department is actively growing and is looking for a Project Accountant

Overview:

As a Project Accountant, your primary responsibility is to ensure accurate and complete reporting of the financial aspects of a project. You will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, supporting project managers in the financial management of their projects, and addressing inquiries from clients or internal stakeholders. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a deadline driven environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contract Management:
    • Review project contracts and agreements to understand financial terms and obligations.
    • Maintain contract documentation in company-wide document management system
    • Ensure proper billing and invoicing according to contract requirements.
    • Monitor contract milestones and payments, coordinating with project teams to ensure timely invoicing and revenue recognition.
    • Review and set-up each project for appropriate revenue recognition based on compliance with ASC 606.
  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Maintain documentation and records in accordance with controls and company policy.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing financial data, reports, and documentation as needed.
    • Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and mitigate risks.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to address financial issues and achieve project objectives.
    • Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Participate in project meetings and provide financial insights and updates as necessary.
  • Project Reporting
    • Develop and maintain standardized project reporting templates and formats.
    • Compile and analyze project financial data to produce regular reports on project performance, including budget vs. actual analysis, forecasting, and variance explanations.
    • Customize reports based on project-specific requirements and stakeholder preferences.
    • Present project reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics, risks, and opportunities.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Investigate and resolve revenue discrepancies or issues.
    • Collaborate with other departments to resolve project-related issues.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Previous experience in project accounting or financial management, preferably within the AEC industry.
  • Proficient Excel skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex issues.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
