Job Description

The successful candidate will perform duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Serve as Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for assigned HM&E (Hull, Mechanical and Electrical) alterations aboard DDG 51 Class ships as assigned.
  • This position is seeking a candidate with a strong electrical background (electrical, electronics, controls).
  • Interface with the Navy, Navy Contractors, BIW Class Design, and BIW management.
  • Assemble Technical Data and Government Furnished Information (GFI) into packages suitable for use by Design for Ship Installation.
  • Provide technical leadership for Ship Installation Drawing (SID) package development for Ship Alterations tasked to Planning Yard and PSA.
  • Support Design in the resolution of waterfront Engineering issues that may arise during installation of Ship Alterations during CNO Availabilities.
  • Brief ship check teams to ensure all applicable guidance is followed and accompany the Design team on ship checks as required.
  • Participate in off-site meetings and other events on an occasional basis.
  • Participate in special projects and lead technical meetings as assigned.
  • Develop and process Ship Alteration Technical Data in accordance with schedule constraints and GSO compliance.
  • Develop ROM estimates for emergent HM&E design and engineering work.
  • Write/review Ship Change Documents (SCD's) for all assigned Ship Alterations.
  • Occasional travel is required.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
  • High School Diploma / GED (required)
  • A.S. or B.S. in STEM (preferred)
Required/Preferred Experience

Technician II - 1-4 years' experience required

Technician III - 5-9 years' experience required

  • Some experience with Project Management and/or Six Sigma is desirable.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office Products.
  • Knowledge of JFFM, Navy Standard Items, Ship Specs/GSO and Planning Yard Processes (preferred).
  • Electrical design experience (required).
  • Ability to review drawings (all disciplines).
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with varying personalities required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team is required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance required.
    • This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
