All candidates must first complete the CASAS reading assessment; the CASAS will be administered through your local Adult Education Center. Updated immunization records are required upon applying.

- Includes the state required curriculum of 70 hours of class time, 20 hours of essential skills labs, and 40 hours of clinical training at a local hospital
- Earn While You Learn: Accepted applicants are offered the opportunity to be paid while you learn in exchange for a 1-year work commitment following completion of the course
Become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
MaineHealth, in collaboration with Maine Adult Education programs and the Maine Community College System, is offering a FREE 6-week, state approved CNA training program. CNAs are caregivers who work directly with patients to assist them with their activities of daily living, including their safety and comfort.

Position SummaryThe CNA Apprentice, under the supervision and direction of the RN and/or Nurse in Charge, the CNA Apprentice provides direct care to patients. This position will require every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
-
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred with the exception of applicant who is attending high school or dual enrollment in CNA program and high school equivalency program

License/Certifications: Attendance and participation in Maine State approved CNA program which prepares the Apprentice to sit for the State of Maine CNA Certification Exam. BLS required at completion of program. CPI training required (provided by employer)
