Program Highlights:

Become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

MaineHealth, in collaboration with Maine Adult Education programs and the Maine Community College System, is offering a FREE 6-week, state approved CNA training program. CNAs are caregivers who work directly with patients to assist them with their activities of daily living, including their safety and comfort.

  • Position Summary
    The CNA Apprentice, under the supervision and direction of the RN and/or Nurse in Charge, the CNA Apprentice provides direct care to patients. This position will require every other weekend and rotating holidays.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred with the exception of applicant who is attending high school or dual enrollment in CNA program and high school equivalency program
    • License/Certifications: Attendance and participation in Maine State approved CNA program which prepares the Apprentice to sit for the State of Maine CNA Certification Exam. BLS required at completion of program. CPI training required (provided by employer)
    • Experience: N/A
    • Effective interpersonal skills
    • Able to communicate with patients who may have confusion or dementia
    • Must enjoy diversional activity, be creative and energetic
    • Must be able to strictly maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations
