Job Description

As an R&D Scientist, you will join our cross-functional research & development team focused on designing immunoassay & molecular diagnostics to advance our product pipeline. As a critical member of the team, the Scientist will incorporate next-gen biomarkers into consumable platforms by working as part of design teams, testing concept designs, and communicating results across the organization. Use state of the art instrumentation to analyze materials at the interface of biology, chemistry and materials sciences. Apply statistical design of experiments and other structural tools to drive experimentation and conclusions. The successful candidate will be motivated, inquisitive, and excel in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment.

What will you do?
  • You will collaborate across our organization to receive concept designs and direct evolution through early design phases to demonstrate assay feasibility.

  • You will research, test, and characterize new materials and formulations to support assay design and consumable development.

  • You will optimize assay designs to meet performance and manufacturing requirements.

  • You will plan and execute laboratory research independently and in collaboration with others, working with small project teams to direct experiment design and determine next experimental steps.

  • You will document methods, techniques, and outcomes related to design history.

  • You will work cross-functionally with multiple project teams, prioritizing work accordingly.

  • You will accomplish project goals in a timely manner and with a high degree of quality.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology

  • Strong initiative, flexibility, positive attitude, and the ability to function effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent verbal, technical writing and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate and clear documentation. Good presentation skills.

  • Experience in assay design or development is desired.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Well-versed in safe laboratory practices.

  • Experience modifying surfaces with small molecule and large molecule reagents desired.

  • Experience synthesizing and formulating organic and inorganic materials is a plus.

  • Experience with analytical tools such as UV/VIS spectroscopy, disc centrifugation and light scattering is a plus.
