Summary

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Access to Care develops and implements the vision, strategy, for the Access to Care team. The Senior Director will lead a team of 110 employees working on a wide variety of programs that work to provide Maine and New Hampshire residents access to care regardless of income level.

Our Access to Care team works to ensure comprehensive, affordable health care for all. Access to Care connects community members to coverage options such as MaineCare and the health insurance marketplace (coverme.gov) and connects low-income and uninsured patients to donated health care services and free/low-cost medications through the CarePartners and MedAccess programs. The team also addresses social drivers of health and works on this as part of a Center for Health Improvement (CHI) team.

Reporting to the Chief Health Improvement Officer, this Senior Director will be responsible for collaborating to develop the vision, strategy, budget, operational plan and design for Access to Care's multiple programs. The Senior Director will bring a wealth of knowledge about federal and state funding programs and will also cultivate and further develop relationships within MaineHealth and in the states of Maine and New Hampshire. The Senior Director, Access to Care provides an excellent opportunity for a dedicated public health professional to serve the people of the region and will be a vital team member in helping MaineHealth meet its mission of "Working together so our communities are the healthiest in America."

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in health care or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of program management experience in a health-related setting.
  • Demonstrated success providing expertise to executive levels.
  • Deep understanding of state and federal health care programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to create a compelling vision.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated success leading/managing a team.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, diverse programs.
  • Skilled at engaging, inspiring, motivating and visionary.
  • Motivates others to think strategically and creatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to model professional behavior by working as a high functioning team member, respecting others, and maintaining open and honest communications and acting with integrity.
