Job Description:

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the (UPW) Ultra-Pure Water treatment plant machines and equipment to purify water for manufacturing use by performing the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs rounds and readings of the UPW equipment.
  • Operates and maintains electric motors, pumps, valves, etc. to regulate flow of raw water into and out of the UPW treatment plant.
  • Adds specified amounts of chemicals such as sodium meta-bisulfite, and anti-scalant into day tanks with water and adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into vessels to de-chlorinate and pretreat water.
  • Evaluates the operations of site Reverse Osmosis Units and adjusts as necessary
  • Cleaning and flushing of RO units.
  • Regeneration of Resin Mix-Beds.
  • Assists with cleaning and flushing of RO units.
  • Turn valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
  • Monitors FMS control system to check the operation of the UPW systems.
  • Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
  • Cleans multimedia filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water).
  • Records data such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, water flows, temperatures, pressures and other parameters.
  • Tests water samples to determine turbidity, chlorine, silt density index, and other impurities.
  • Interface with facility engineering to contribute to design ideas, recommendations on existing equipment and new projects.
  • Will have secondary responsibilities in other disciplines; defined as but not limited to: Ultra-Pure Water (UPW); Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC); Life Safety Systems (LSS); Electrical, Waste-Water Treatment; and Controls.

Shift: (C) Thursday, Friday, Saturday, every other Wednesday 7am-7pm

Requirements/Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
  • One or more certifications in water and or wastewater treatment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Technician III - Associates of Science Degree or equivalent and 3+ years of work related experience and/or specialized training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematic diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical specifications, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, pass downs, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with supervisors and employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with new or unusual situations. Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ability to walk, crawl bend, twist, reach, and climb stairs and ladders.

Color vision, verbal communication and listening

Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry for short distances.

Ability to push, pull or drag up to 70 lbs.

Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that includes safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, cartridge or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and protective clothing and pass PFT and respirator fit testing.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The hourly pay range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $25-36/hr.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
